Disney has been under fire for its repeated use of the same heroine character types, but there’s a good reason the studio keeps bringing in such similar leads. As the House of Mouse released the trailer for its upcoming film Wish, audiences couldn’t help but notice that the central character is nearly identical in behavior to many of her heroine predecessors. Asha is awkward, clumsy, and quirky, just like other Disney characters like Rapunzel, Moana, Mirabel, Anna, and more.
