Lando Calrissian leads the Rebellion’s starfighters to victory in Return of the Jedi, but it may seem odd that the Millennium Falcon, of all ships, was his vessel of choice. The Millennium Falcon is the Star Wars franchise’s most iconic starship, playing a particularly prominent role in the original trilogy, with Return of the Jedi’s Battle of Endor being no exception. For reasons both in-universe and real world, the Millennium Falcon makes sense as the leader of the Alliance’s attack on the Second Death Star.
