Why Richard Sackler Likely Won’t Watch Painkiller According To The Book’s Author
Painkiller author Barry Meier explains why Richard Sackler won’t ever watch the Netflix drama, which features Sackler as the lead antagonist. Based on Meier’s book of the same name, and a New Yorker article on the Sackler family by Patrick Radden Keefe, Painkiller is a six-episode show that focuses on the start of the opioid epidemic. It particularly focuses on Purdue Pharma, a company owned by Sackler and his family, that was the manufacturer of OxyContin. The drama, which stars Matthew Broderick as Sackler, paints a rightfully dreadful portrait of the Sacklers who played a central role in the opioid crisis.
