Which Captain Commanded Star Trek’s Enterprise The Longest?
There have been many ships to bear the name Enterprise in Star Trek, but which of its legendary Captains was the longest-serving commanding officer? The original USS Enterprise NCC-1701 from Star Trek: The Original Series was in service for 22 years, commanded by Captains Robert April (Adrian Holmes), Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), and James T. Kirk (William Shatner) respectively. Its most outstanding successor, Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s USS Enterprise-D was in service for nine years, solely commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard (William Shatner) with both Commander William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Captain Edward Jellico (Ronny Cox) stepping in when Picard was assimilated by the Borg and on a covert intelligence mission.
