Voyager Suffered The Most From Episodic Star Trek’s Reset Button

Out of all series, Star Trek: Voyager suffered the most from episodic Star Trek‘s “reset button” storytelling style. The “reset button” refers to the opposite of serialized storytelling, where each episode of a series is a contained storyline that must be fully concluded by the end. In the case of the reset button specifically, the episode’s story usually gets entirely rewritten so that it never actually happened in the first place, generally by employing a recognizable sci-fi trope like time travel or something similar. This means that any character development that may have resulted from the episode’s plot is also erased.
