Tiwa Savage Ventures Into Nollywood With Her Debut In The Movie ‘Water And Garri’

Renowned female music sensation, Tiwa Savage, has stepped into the world of Nollywood with her debut in the upcoming movie “Water and Gari.

Produced by Everything Savage and Unbound Studios, the film is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video soon, showcasing Tiwa Savage in her first-ever movie role. Directed by Meji Alabi, “Water and Garri” becomes the latest addition to Prime Video Nigeria’s growing collection of high-quality Nollywood entertainment.

With changes at home, including increased violence and rising tensions, Aisha must learn to live with her scars and confront the guilt she has left behind while reuniting with family, old friends, and her former love.

The film, shot in adjacent Ghana, combines cinematography and storytelling while starring talented actors such as Mike Afolarin (Far From Home), Andrew Bunting (Dynamite), and Jemima Osunde (New Money).

Ayanna Lonian, Director of Content Acquisition at Prime Video, stated about the new film, “Audiences around the world are hungry for well-made, contemporary African stories, and Water and Garri delivers that with a novel viewpoint.

“Both Meji Alabi, as film director, and Tiwa Savage, as the lead, have truly delivered a stellar debut alongside the rest of the incredibly talented cast and crew.”

Speaking about the movie, Tiwa Savage, who is known for hit songs expressed her excitement.

“My film, from an idea to launching globally on Prime Video is a dream fulfilled. I am excited for my fans and newer audiences to experience this vulnerable side of me that I have never shown. Meji Alabi brought the story to life in such a beautiful way, and I cannot wait to share it with the world,” she added.
