Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka Song Is Proves He Can Handle The Iconic Role
Timothée Chalamet’s performance as the titular character in Wonka includes musical elements, with the first tease of his talents supporting his ability to handle the role. Roald Dahl’s iconic candy-maker character first appeared onscreen in Mel Stuart’s 1971 adaptation Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Unlike this version and Tim Burton’s 2005 remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Paul King’s Wonka explores the origin story of how Willy became the imaginative chocolatier fans adore. While Wonka depicts a different era in the character’s life, Chalamet still has big shoes to fill as he steps into the iconic role, inevitably being measured against the performances of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp in the 1971 and 2005 movies, respectively.
