Tim Burton’s Greatest Villain Twist In 38 Years Was Secretly Given Away 20 Minutes Into The Movie

The twist that Lord Barkis was Emily’s murderer in Corpse Bride was among Tim Burton’s best, and it was subtly revealed during the first half of the film. The musical number “Remains of the Day” told Emily’s story, including how her fiance murdered her on their wedding day. Though this was clearly important to the plot, there was no reason to believe that Emily’s killer would make an appearance in Corpse Bride, which made the Lord Barkis reveal a great surprise. However, upon a rewatch, it’s evident that the film provided a massive clue for its twist ending when the story was just getting started.
