Three Arraigned Over Alleged Theft Of Maggi Seasoning Worth N50m
Three men were presented before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, facing charges of stealing 3,000 cartons of Maggi seasoning valued at N50 million.
Emmanuel Akpan (38), Tasiu Aliu (27), and Usman Hassan (48) are accused of conspiracy and theft, with the alleged offenses taking place on December 15, 2023, at Engineering Close, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo, Akpan, a logistics agent, arranged for a truck to transport the 3,000 cartons of Terra Maggi seasoning owned by TGI Distribution Company to Kaduna State.
Aliu, a driver, and Hassan, his motor boy, were responsible for conveying the goods. After their departure, attempts to track their location failed as their cell phones were switched off.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate, Mrs. M. O Popoola, granted them bail in the sum of N5 million each, with two sureties in like sum. The case is adjourned until March 20 for trial.
