The Office Transformed Into Sci-Fi Is Terrifying (But Dwight Schrute Would Love It)

The Office gets reimagined as a sci-fi series, and it just looks wrong — but not for the reasons one would expect. Part of the reason the NBC workplace comedy became such an enduring hit, essentially helping to define the workplace comedy genre, is that it excelled in its episodic storytelling, which allowed for individual stories to get a specific focus. The Office could have a very different thematic focus, but a few constants remained. One of those constants was that Dwight Schrute loved sci-fi, dressing up as a Sith Lord in season 2’s Halloween episode and showing off a costume that he was very proud of.
