The Marvels’ $197m Box Office Run Officially Breaks The MCU’s 15-Year Record

Marvel Studios’ disappointing box office run has continued with 2023’s The Marvels, but the Phase 5 film has also broken a record not touched since the beginnings of the MCU in 2008. The sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel released on November 10, 2023, bringing Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Photon, together for the first time on screen to battle Zawe Ashton’s villainous Dar-Benn. Despite a positive audience response, The Marvels has fallen victim to a poor box office turnout, and Disney has now confirmed it will stop reporting on the film’s ongoing box office numbers.
