The villain wasn’t a prominent character in the Harry Potter films, but he was discussed far more often in the Deathly Hallows book. The details of his story were used as a foundation for the Fantastic Beasts prequel movies, which had the opportunity to dive even deeper into Grindelwald’s relationship with Dumbledore. The film series likely would have set his death right, but that task may now be left to the Harry Potter remake.
