Monster team-ups produced some of the coolest moments in Toho’s kaiju films both with and without Godzilla, and one epic combination that never came to pass could be given a second chance in the Monsterverse. It’s been common practice for kaiju movies to change drastically as they are developed, with monsters often being swapped out for various reasons. That’s what happened in the lead-up to 2001’s Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, as the final roster of monsters that fought in the film changed over time. Fortunately, Legendary’s Monsterverse timeline could revisit this crossover.
