Strange New Worlds’ Scotty Should Be Star Trek’s New Chief O’Brien
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ new Scotty (Martin Quinn) should be the show’s version of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s Chief Miles O’Brien (Colm Meaney). Introduced in Strange New Worlds‘ season 2 finale, Scotty is the latest Star Trek: The Original Series character to appear in the prequel series. Now that Scotty’s temporarily assigned to the USS Enterprise to help with the Gorn crisis, viewers have a chance to learn more about TOS‘ beloved Scottish engineering genius. The more character-driven approach of Strange New Worlds allows the show to effectively handle Scotty’s character in a similar way to Chief O’Brien in DS9.
