Star-Lord’s Death Fakeout Meant More Than You Realize in GOTG Vol 3

Star-Lord almost met his demise at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but him being saved created one memorable moment for Adam Warlock’s MCU debut. Released on May 5, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 marked director James Gunn’s final project with Marvel Studios, bringing the story of the original Guardians team to an end as part of the MCU’s Phase 5. Prior to the film’s release, theories arose suggesting one or more of the Guardians would die during their seventh MCU appearance, but although a major death was teased, every member of the original team thankfully survived the dramatic battle with the High Evolutionary.
