SSANU, NASU, NAATS Block UNILAG Gate As Nationwide Strike Continues

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAATS) of the University of Lagos have staged a peaceful protest in front of the school’s gate.

Reports that the striking workers blocked vehicular movement and hindered the free flow of traffic in the environment.

Recall that for about a month, SSANU and NASU leadership have been called out government’s for excluding them from the payment of the withheld salaries, which was payed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in February.

Their salaries were withheld when the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari invoked a ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ against the ASUU, SSANU, and NAATS, which embarked on a strike that lasted eight months, four months, and five-and-a-half months, respectively, in 2022.

NAATS, however, also began its three-day warning strike today.
