SO SAD!!! Five Dead, 30 Others Rescued As Boat Capsizes In River Niger (DETAILS)

Five individuals tragically lost their lives in a boat accident while traveling from Kogi State to Onitsha through the River Niger in Anambra State.

The incident occurred on a Sunday morning, as reported by a source in the riverine area of Anambra West Local Government Area to Daily Post.

A video obtained by Daily Post from a local source revealed that the victims were mainly women and children.

Although their identities remain unknown, they were reportedly from a riverine part of Kogi State and were journeying to Onitsha for various business purposes.

The source said,

“Early this morning, there was a boat that capsized at River Niger. Some of the victims are from parts of Kogi State and Mmiata Anam in Anambra East Local Government Area, according to the eyewitnesses.”

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that upon receiving a distress call, their operatives swiftly responded and managed to rescue over 30 individuals.

They also recovered the bodies of the five deceased from the submerged boat.
