Sisko And Picard’s Star Trek Feud Went Deeper Than The Borg

The confrontation between Commander Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) and Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s pilot is legendary, but there’s a much deeper meaning to their feud that goes beyond Locutus of Borg. In DS9‘s pilot episode, “Emissary”, Picard invited Sisko aboard the USS Enterprise-D to brief him on his new assignment to the titular space station. Tasked with preparing Bajor for possible entry into the Federation, Sisko struggled to suppress his anger and rage at Picard for the role he played – as Locutus of Borg – in the death of Sisko’s wife Jennifer (Felecia M. Bell) at Wolf 359.
