An elderly woman from Shanghai, known as Ms Liu, has decided to leave her $2.8 million fortune to her pets, citing them as her only source of comfort in old age.
She excluded her three children from her will due to their lack of visitation and care.
Originally planning to leave her wealth to her children, she changed her mind and updated her will to ensure her money is used to care for her pets and any future offspring.
While she wanted to leave her money directly to her pets, this is not allowed in China, so a local vet clinic is appointed to manage her inheritance and oversee the animals’ care.
