New documentary Pencils vs. Pixels goes back through the incredible journey of 2D hand-drawn animation, especially the high point of the Disney Renaissance in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Then the story of 3D computer animation follows, and how animation studios have had to change in the wake of such a shift. The documentary is narrated by Ming-Na Wen and incorporates the thoughts of several iconic artists who helped bring everyone’s favorite animated classics to life.
