Panic As Fire Destroys Goods Worth Millions Of Naira In Oyo Market

A fire incident in Oyo town, Oyo State, has resulted in the destruction of goods and property valued at millions of naira, particularly affecting the garri processing section of the Ajegunle market along Oyo/Ogbomoso road.

The fire, which occurred on Tuesday, is believed to have originated from an improperly extinguished frying cubicle after the close of production the previous night.

Akinyinka Akinyemiju, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, stating that preventive measures were taken by the state fire service to contain the fire and prevent its further spread.

In his words;

“Immediately we proceeded to the scene, and on getting there, we met rows of prefabricated garri processing shops on fire and immediately, we took preventive measures to avert the spread of the fire to the other parts.”
