One Piece: How 3 Key Things Helped Shape Luffy & Shanks’ Relationship In Live-Action
One Piece director Marc Jobst reveals the three things that shaped Luffy and Shanks’ relationship in live-action. Premiered on August 31, Netflix’s adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga follows the high-sea adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he searches for the titular treasure. The first few episodes introduce the dynamic between Luffy and Shanks (Peter Gadiot), the latter being the leader of the Red-Haired Pirates who was Luffy’s childhood idol and inspired him to start his own crew. Shanks even gives a young Luffy his straw hat to help him achieve his dream of becoming King of the Pirates.
