Netflix’s Live-Action Luffy Is Different To The Original One Piece Character In 1 Big Way
Netflix’s One Piece is bringing Luffy D. Monkey’s (Iñaki Godoy) story to life in live-action, but the series’ main character is different from his anime counterpart in one significant way. Like the main character of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga and its anime adaptation, the live-action Luffy strives to find the legendary One Piece and become “King of the Pirates.” He gathers a band of misfits on his quest, becoming captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and commanding the Going Merry. In these ways, Netflix’s One Piece captures the spirit of the source material.
