MCU Phase 5’s Lineup Means It Can’t Repeat What Made Thanos Work With Kang

Thanos’ epic arrival in Avengers: Infinity War may not be matched by Kang the Conqueror‘s main villain role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. After Thanos’ defeat in Avengers: Endgame, the introduction of the MCU’s next big bad was inevitable, and Kang the Conqueror became the ideal replacement due to the multiversal nature of the MCU’s new saga. But repeating what made Thanos such an enthralling antagonist is a difficult task, much more so when Kang’s first appearances fail to capture the ominous build-up of Thanos’ early teases.
