Luke Skywalker’s Inspiration Fulfilled The Emperor’s Greatest Fear

Star Wars has made Luke Skywalker everything that Emperor Palpatine feared about the Jedi, and what they would become. The story of the Jedi Order across the prequel trilogy surprised many fans, as it was brutally honest in how it portrayed the Jedi. Viewers’ ideas of what the Jedi should be like based on Star Wars novels and Luke Skywalker himself were contradicted with a complacent, emotionless Jedi Order. This Order participated in the Clone Wars, and even allowed Palpatine to rise up, destroy them, and create an Empire right under their noses. But Skywalker would go on to restore this order, and Luke became what Palpatine feared most.
