Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was filmed primarily in New Zealand between October 1999 and December 2000. Peter Jackson was remarkably able to capture principal photography for his entire Lord of the Rings trilogy over that 438-day time period. The trilogy was reportedly shot in over 150 locations, most of them on sight with moderate use of large sound stages. Nearly all of the film’s production and editing were done in Jackson’s native country of New Zealand.
