Little Mermaid’s Streaming Debut Can Save Disney’s Remake After $500 Million Box Office Letdown
Disney+ is preparing for the arrival of the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, and its streaming debut can be what saves the movie after its box office letdown. The live-action trend is still very much alive over at Disney, with the studio having a long list of upcoming live-action remakes of some of its animated classics. Its most recent one is The Little Mermaid, directed by Rob Marshall and loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale of the same name, and starring Halle Bailey as Princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
