JUST IN: Police Confirms Killing Of Officer As Gunmen Attack Station And Banks In Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has officially acknowledged the robbery incident at Anyigba Banks and an attack on a police station.

Gunmen targeted two commercial banks in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic death of a police officer and another civilian.

During the attacks, there were reports of sporadic shootings, and an unspecified amount of money was allegedly stolen from the police station.

In response, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ovye, confirmed the incidents in a statement on Friday night.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, visited the scenes for an on-the-spot assessment, vowing to apprehend the culprits.

The statement revealed that Tactical Teams, including PMF Personnel, Counter Terrorism, Quick Response, and Intelligence Units, were deployed in collaboration with other Security Agencies to restore normalcy in the area.

Despite the loss of a police constable during the exchange of fire, the Commissioner assured the public of the Command’s commitment to working with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of Kogi State.
