Israel Hands: Who The Black Sails Pirate Was In Real Life Explained

When Jonathan E. Steinberg’s historical adventure series, Black Sails, premiered on Starz, it introduced a number of famous pirates who actually existed during the Golden Age of Piracy, one of them being Israel Hands. A prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island, Black Sails follows a young Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his crew members, who fight for the survival of New Providence Island. During their quest, Flint and his crew encounter various favorite pirates like Anne Bonny (Clara Paget), Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson), and of course Israel Hands (David Wilmot).
