The titular mummy of the The Mummy reboot is Princess Ahmanet, a character of various historical and fictional inspirations. Played by actor Sofia Boutella, the monster who stood against Tom Cruise’s character in the 2017 film was the daughter of a Pharaoh who was passed over as his successor when her baby brother was born. Similar stories about Egyptian kings and queens have been told throughout the years. Still, Ahmanet’s character is unique in that she embraced the powers of a dark deity to seek revenge on her family. It’s a tale explicitly created for The Mummy, but pieces of history were at its foundation.
