Afrobeats Queen, Tiwa Savage, has claimed that fans have constantly been pitting her against her female colleagues in the industry.

During a recent interview with BET, the ‘Somebody’s Son’ crooner said the fans often pit her against every rising female artist, claiming that they are coming to take her “throne.”

Tiwa Savage said that she would go to great lengths to make friends with the new female artists instead because music is not a competition for her.

She said:

“Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’

“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition. The real competition are the male artists. I was happy that Tyla, a female artists won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
