Happiness for Beginners features feel-good tunes and romantic songs in the background while walking through every milestone in Helen’s journey toward finding herself. Based on Katherine Center’s 2015 novel of the same name, Happiness for Beginners follows middle-aged Helen, who feels lost and old after her divorce. Hoping to turn her life around and find happiness again, she enrolls in a survivalist hiking adventure, where she runs into her brother’s best friend, Jake. While she initially becomes suspicious about Jake’s reasons for being on the hiking trip, she later learns about some of his secrets that show the potential to change the course of her own life.
