Elf’s Original Casting Director Reveals Who Should Play Buddy In A Remake, & It’s Another SNL Star

Elf‘s original casting director Susie Farris imagines a popular SNL alum as Buddy for a potential remake. The Christmas film premiered in 2003 and follows Buddy Hobbs (Will Ferrell), a human who grew up with Santa’s elves in the North Pole, but ventures to New York City in an effort to reconnect with his real family. Along with Ferrell, the cast of Elf includes Bob Newhart, James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Asner. Since its release, Elf has become a holiday staple, and continues to draw praise, particularly for Ferrell’s performance.
