Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series will bring Rick Riordan’s middle grade books to the small screen, and the adaptation should attempt to fix its lead character’s most annoying flaw. Riordan’s novels follow the titular Percy Jackson as he discovers he’s the son of Poseidon, a revelation that gains him entry to Camp Half-Blood. A place for demigods like Percy to train, Camp Half-Blood bridges the world of humans and Olympus. Soon after he’s welcomed to the facility, Percy finds himself whisked away on a journey to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt. Danger and adventure ensues from there, enabling Percy to prove himself and bond with his fellow demigods.
