Digimon Adventure’s Best Story Arc is Also its Weirdest, & It’s Not Close

The original Digimon anime series, Digimon Adventures, is fundamentally an Isekai story. After being transported to the Digital World, the seven heroes fight to save this new world from evil Digimon. Their adventures in the Digital World drive the majority of the plot, though the middle episodes of the original Digimon Adventure take an unexpected swerve into a Reverse Isekai story arc, with the heroes chasing the vampire-like Myotismon back into the Real World. In part because of how weird the Real World story arc is, it stands out as the high point of the original anime series’ run.
