Covenant Already Fulfilled Disney’s New Alien Promise (& It Didn’t Work)

Disney’s upcoming Alien movie promises to go back to the franchise’s “haunted house in space” roots, but Alien: Covenant already took the series back to basics and it didn’t work. Rumored to be titled Alien: Romulus, the new movie is a standalone installment that will return to the Alien franchise’s original M.O. of cosmic horror. But this isn’t the first time that a new installment in the Alien franchise has attempted to go back to the series’ roots. Ridley Scott himself, the director of the original Alien movie, tried to do that with Alien: Covenant in 2017 – and it didn’t work.
