Candela Obscura Interview: Spenser Starke & Rowan Hall On Working With Critical Role

Critical Role’s full core rulebook for Candela Obscura fleshes out the lore, gameplay, and horror of the game featured in their series of the same name. In 2020, they started their own game publishing company, Darrington Press, which has released different competitive and cooperative games. In May, they launched their new horror series, Candela Obscura, which also debuted their new game of the same name. Using the Illuminated Worlds system, created by Darrington Press, the game is a six-sided dice-based TTRPG set in The Fairelands, a world that has been ravaged by war and dangerous magick with new technology beginning to take hold. This horror series brings together a group of players known as a Circle who work together under the Candela Obscura organization to investigate strange occurrences.
