BURSTED!!!! Amotekun Foils Attempted Bank Robbery, Parades 37 Suspects In Ondo
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun Corps, announced on Thursday that it successfully thwarted an attempted bank robbery orchestrated by a seven-member gang of suspected criminals in the state.
Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this while presenting 37 suspects involved in various criminal activities across the state at the corps headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.
Adeleye revealed that six members of the gang had infiltrated the state from Delta State with intentions to carry out their criminal activities. However, the corps intervened and disrupted their plans after receiving intelligence.
The Amotekun boss explained that the confession of the gang leader, Fatai Bami, 35, revealed that the suspects had already identified three banks to target for the robbery in Ore, Odigbo Local Council Area. Additionally, the gang had planned to kidnap the owner of a prominent supermarket in the commercial city.
According to Adeleye, one of the gang members had approached a staff member of the supermarket to recruit him for the operation. However, the staff member declined and alerted his employer about the impending threat.
He stated,
“The seven-man gang came from Sapele, Delta State, with intentions to commit kidnapping and robbery at a bank in Irele LGA.”
“Although six of them are still at large, we managed to apprehend the mastermind who harbored the robbers. Furthermore, we uncovered the target they planned to kidnap.”
