BREAKING NEWS: EFCC Obtains Order To Arrest Nigerians Transacting On Binance (What’s Your Take On This?)
Is this playing? On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja directed Binance Holdings Limited to give the EFCC a comprehensive list of Nigerians trading on Binance.
This order was issued in response to an ex parte motion initiated by the EFCC seeking information about Nigerian traders on Binance.
The lawsuit, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/259/2024 and dated February 29, was instigated by the anti-graft agency under the provisions of sections 6(b), (h), (I), 7(1), (a)(2), and 38 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Establishment Act, 2004, along with Section 15 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 (as amended).
In support of the motion, an affidavit was submitted by an EFCC operative named Hamma Bello, indicating that the commission’s Special Investigation Team, operating within the Office of the National Security Adviser, had received intelligence suggesting the involvement of Binance in money laundering and terrorism financing activities.
