Barbie Is WB’s First Movie In 7 Years To Come Close To Beating A Decade-Old Box Office Record
Barbie has become a box office phenomenon and has just passed the billion-dollar mark, and it’s the closest Warner Bros. has come to breaking its own record in seven years. The new Greta Gerwig-directed movie has gone from one success to the next. Despite facing off against Oppenheimer in its opening weekend, known as “Barbenheimer,” Barbie still made over $350 million worldwide (via The Numbers), which was made up of a $160 million domestic intake and almost $200 million earned internationally. Between Oppenheimer and Barbie, it was the fourth-highest-grossing weekend ever at the box office.
