In some ways, Amazon Luna is an underdog in the video game scene, a descriptor that has almost never been used to describe anything related to the online store. After a period of early access, the cloud gaming platform officially launched in March 2022 in the United States, instantly putting it in contention with a wide array of other similar services on the market. Roughly a year later, Amazon launched the platform in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Despite debuting with a decent library and an interesting tier-based subscription system, Luna seemed to struggle to gain much of a foothold, which could be credited to a myriad of things. Firstly, cloud gaming is still not a viable option for everyone; secondly, the library has rarely exceeded “decent.”
