Paul, from Louisville, Kentucky, had traveled to a very remote area of the Amazon region to meet Karine for the first time on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Karine, who’s from Tonantins, Brazil, had difficulty communicating with Paul as they spoke through translated text messages. Early on in their relationship, Paul wanted Karine to take an STD and pregnancy test. While Karine had nothing to hide, Paul was keeping his criminal past a secret from her. They eventually got married in Brazil in November 2017.
