In 2004, Battlestar Galactica hit the television scene and made some serious changes to people’s ideas of what sci-fi can be on television, and unsurprisingly, this paradigm shift led to the creation of many more inventive, important, and entertaining sci-fi and space series. 2004’s Battlestar Galatica is a reboot of the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica. Though the reboot offered new plot threads and themes, the basic premise of the series remains: humans are at war with their cyborg creations, the Cylons, and after a devastating battle, one military ship called the Battlestar Galactica remains. The crew must save the human survivors by attempting to find the fabled thirteenth colony, Earth.
