4 Important Lessons To Learn From BBC Documentary About TB Joshua

Published

on

The late Prophet TB Joshua was undeniably one of the most renowned pastors during his lifetime. Leveraging tele-miracles, he could disseminate the gospel globally, drawing foreigners to his church in Nigeria.

The recently unveiled BBC documentary on him evoked mixed reactions among Nigerians. Nevertheless, the serious allegations presented in the documentary might have found clarification had he been alive to share his perspective.

However, it remains crucial to watch the documentary and glean insights from the narratives being presented.

Here are 4 key lessons I believe everyone should take away from the documentary:

1. Religion Is a Serious Business

A man called by God to spread the Gospel started it under a shed made of wood and leaves. He needed money to expand the church by building structures while also providing for himself and his family. Such a man of God would do anything to attract more people to the church and expand it.

For pastors, winning souls is as important as making money and ensuring the growth and expansion of the church in any possible way.

In a bid to expand the church, some pastors might engage in unethical practices, while others stay clean.

Either way, it’s still a business and a serious one at that.

2. No Man Is Perfect

In the documentary, the disciples talked about the negative actions of Prophet TB Joshua. Whether everything they said is true or not, the real fact is that no man is perfect, regardless of their church position.

There are just ten commandments in the Bible, and it’s challenging for one human to strictly adhere to all of them. There are other rules in the Bible that humans cannot stick to. Not all men of God can meet society’s expectations of perfection.

They are humans too, with needs and desires, which is why their imperfections cannot be used to define them.

3. Personal Relationship With God Is Important

The BBC documentary about TB Joshua also confirms that having a personal relationship with God is of utmost importance.

Relying on a pastor or being emotionally attached to a pastor could spell doom if the pastor is secretly a rogue.

Attending church should be about praying with others while also refreshing your spirit with the Word of God, not worshipping a pastor.

4. Only God Can Judge Everyone

After watching the BBC documentary, it might be tempting to conclude that the late Prophet TB Joshua was a bad pastor.

However, no person has the right to judge another in such a manner. The question of whether the late Pastor TB Joshua is evil or not can only be answered by God, who created the universe and sees everything that everyone is trying to hide.
