2 Great Barriers In Star Trek’s Galaxy Explained

The starships of Star Trek set out to explore the farthest reaches of the galaxy, and there are two different barriers they have come up against. While there are, of course, no literal walls or edges in space, there is a Galactic Barrier that surrounds the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew encountered this Barrier on multiple occasions in Star Trek: The Original Series with various results.
