10 Movies Actors Were Forced To Make
There are plenty of cases in which actors were not fans of nor enjoyed making the movies they starred in, but in some cases, the actors were actually forced to be in the movie. When actors openly aren’t fans of their films, it often gets made into jokes or memes, like Robert Pattinson with the Twilight franchise, but sometimes an actor’s dislike for a film has little to do with the quality and more to do with their contracts. When an actor is forced to make a movie, it’s usually because of a contract they eventually regret signing that locks them into deals with major motion picture studios. The early days of Hollywood followed the studio system for the production of motion pictures. This system created the “Big Five” studios that held all the power and influence in the film industry over every aspect of production, including casting. This studio system, which went hand-in-hand with the exploitative star system, was banned in 1948 following a Supreme Court ruling. Though much has changed in the 75 years since, there is still more room to grow, as evidenced by the current 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Hopefully, this also means actors will no longer be contractually forced to make movies they do not wish to be a part of.
