Oppenheimer achieved the impossible by becoming director Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing movie outside of the Dark Knight trilogy, but no one should be surprised by the movie’s success. The new biopic is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, also known as the father of the atomic bomb, and how he shepherded a group of physicists to create a world-destroying nuclear weapon during The Manhattan Project. The movie marks several firsts for Nolan, as it’s the celebrated filmmaker’s first biopic, and it’s the first time his longtime collaborator Cillian Murphy is in the lead role.
