Ever wondered about the kinds of careers you’d never want your child to pursue? Well, I’ve given it some thought, and for me, it’s football.

Ever seen a frustrated footballer? If you have, you’ll get where I’m coming from when I say the hustle I would never let my kid try to make it is as a professional footballer.

Growing up in an area like Ajegunle, where every boy wanted to be the next big football star, I’ve seen it all.

Talent or not, everyone had the same dream. But here’s the thing: making it in football, especially in this country, is a long shot.

Sure, there’s the saying, “Grace na koko, talent na jara” meaning luck plays a big part, but still, the odds are super slim.

So, with all that in mind, there’s no way I could let my kid pursue football as a career while we’re still here.

The path is just too uncertain and filled with too many challenges.
