WAHALA!!!! Five Remanded For Stealing Fish In Adamawa
The Jimeta Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, remanded three fishermen and two businesswomen in a correctional centre on Wednesday over alleged fish theft.
Aminu Mohammed (27), Yauba Musa (25), Abubakar Mohammed (31), Halima Musa (21), and Amira Sani (23), all from Gerio Village, Yola, faced charges including criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, criminal intimidation, theft, causing grievous hurt, and possession of stolen property.
The defendants pleaded not guilty, and Chief Magistrate Awamem Fwa ordered their remand in prison until February 7 for further police investigation.
The charges stemmed from allegations that the defendants trespassed into the Gerio River Fish Basin, armed with weapons, and stole various quantities of fish from different business owners.
The security guard was reportedly injured when he tried to prevent their escape.
The prosecutor objected to bail, citing ongoing police investigations and the potential risk of jeopardizing the process.
The Chief Magistrate remanded the suspects in the correctional centre and adjourned the matter until February 7 for further proceedings.
