‘Very Important Game’ – Troost-Ekong Rallies Super Eagles Teammates Ahead Of South Africa Clash
Super Eagles vice captain, William Troost-Ekong has urged his teammates to step up and go all out for a win in their crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Finidi George side are yet to record a win in the qualifiers with two draws from their opening two games.
The AFCON finalist will host Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, next Friday.
Defeat in the game could end the Super Eagles’ chance of qualifying for the global showdown in USA.
He said:
“Very important game. We all know we want to be in the 2026 World Cup,” Troost-Ekong said on Arise News.
“Coach Finidi is coming now, has been appointed, which I think everyone’s very happy about – someone who understands Nigerian football. He’s been our assistant coach and deserved this shot now to be the head coach.”
